Euro 2016 team stats report - Lets

The European Championships Summer 2016 is going to be a big event. Every game will be on TV, at an hour where it’s possible to watch the matches (for UK viewers): as the tournament is being hosted in France. Coverage of the performance of England, Wales, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland will be everywhere, TV, Newspapers, and Twitter, you name it.

Star players from mainland Europe should be in full attendance. Ronaldo, Muller, and Ibrahimovic will all be leading the charge for their country.

Betting at the Euro 2016 shouldn’t be all about win markets. Punters should set themselves a challenge to make the most of all the under the radar markets, including corners, corner handicap markets, goal betting markets, and cards. Let’s look at what the stats from the qualifying games are telling us.

Stats for Euro 2016

Group A

Albania
France
Romania
Switzerland

Romania kept goals to a minimum during qualifying with 9 out of 10 games going under 2.5 goals.
71% of Albania’s matches also produced less than 2.5 goals.
Hosts France did not need to qualify. They where very relaxed and had just two matches where the got more cards than their opponents.

Group B

England
Russia
Slovakia
Wales

England often do well in qualifying. This time round was no exception, winning 100% of matches. More interesting should be England’s 90% domination in the most corners market. A bet only worth it against Slovakia who concede more corners than they win, on average.

Group C

Germany
Northern Ireland
Poland
Ukraine

Germany where the corner kings in qualifying. 9 out of 10 corner over corner bets would have paid out. A hot tip for the corner handicap markets, especially against Poland and Northern Ireland in the group games: who have corners won averages of around 5 compared to Germany’s 9.

Group D

Croatia
Czech Republic
Spain
Turkey

Czech republic look like strong candidates for for goal and scorer markets. Conceding 14 goals they have the worst defensive record in the qualifying matches. 90% of match went over 2.5 goals and both teams scored in 90% of matches.

Spain as ever have played very well and are odds-on favourites to win group D.

Group E

Belgium
Italy
Republic of Ireland
Sweden

Belgium are odds-on favourites for group E which look too slim. Italy should be catching more interest with largest odds, currently at 7.4. A straight win bet on Betfair with a cash out before the end of the group stage would be a wise choice here.

Similarly Zlatan Ibrahimovic match day scorer odds also look too slim and better value could be found with the like of Jon-Walters for Ireland.

Italy where also very strong winning most corners in 90% of their matches. Italy are very strong defensively and although they are dominant at winning corners 90% of matches still produced less than 10.5 corners.

Group F

Austria
Hungary
Iceland
Portugal

This group has the team with the joint best win rate and the team with the worst win rate. Austria look very strong with conceding just 0.7 goals per match and winning 90% of their matches. Hungary however have won just 4 out of 10 matches.

One man does not make the team. Portugal will need to do better than they did at the World Cup to get the best out of Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the Over 3.5 card market Hungary (90% of matches) versus Iceland (70% strike rate) or Portugal (75% rate) looks like a good bet.

For goals, corner, top scorer and straight old win markets we recommended the Betfair betting exchange. Check out the account opening free bet offer.
