Leicester City: Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goal Kings

Anyone with even a passing interest in the football would have noticed the unfamiliar name of Leicester City near the top of the Barclays Premier League table.

Every year there seems to be an unlikely team that makes a strong start in the league only to fade away after a few over-achieving weeks. However, Leicester City do not appear to be going anywhere.

The Foxes’ presence amongst the league’s elite is great news for the club’s supporters and good for the Barclays Premier League as a whole but what does it mean for those who like to bet?

Best betting on Leicester

Well, Leicester have been catching the eye of punters – not for their displays on the pitch but for their performances in certain betting markets. So, let’s take a closer look.

Both Teams to Score

Both teams to Score or Goals Galore; call it what you like, this is one of the most popular betting markets right now and Leicester are the top performing Premier League team in this market.

Coach Claudio Ranieri was so impressed when his team kept a clean sheet recently that he famously took them all out for a pizza. That tells you all you need to know about the rarity of a Leicester shut-out.

Leicester score goals and Leicester ship goals – just look at the stats.

Percentage of Leicester games in which both teams scored:

Home: 80%

Away: 100%

That’s a combined total of 90.9% – a full 9% better than their closest rivals Norwich. The only team with a higher total in all of the major World and European leagues is Scottish club St Johnstone who weigh in at a huge 92.3%.

Premier League betting – Under and Over 2.5 goals

October 6, 2015

The Under/Over goals market offers punters a great way of using stats to find great value bets in any league. With this type of market, you need a good sample size to work with, so with eight games now played in the Premier League, now is a good time to start looking for patterns.

Over 2.5 goals

All good bookmakers will offer you odds in this market. For a bet to pay out, three goals or more must be scored during 90 minutes of regulation play (including stoppage time).

Chelsea

Jose Mourinho´s side may not be performing well in the league this season but they are a hot pick in the Over 2.5 goals market. Seven out of their eight games so far this term have finished with three goals or more.

Over 2.5 goals: Home 75% – Away 100% – Total 87.5%

Leicester City

Unlike Chelsea, the Foxes are doing well in the league and have exceeded most people’s expectations. They are also a good team to look out for when placing Over 2.5 goal bets. Six out of their eight games so far have produced a positive result in this market.

Over 2.5 goals: Home 75% – Away 75% – Total 75%

Norwich

The Canaries are a good bet when it comes to the Over 2.5 goals market. Games involving the Norfolk side have paid out six times in eight games this season, the only exceptions being two 1-1 draws.

Over 2.5 goals: Home 75% – Away 75% – Total 75%

Barcelona vs Real Madrid: El Clásico clash could decide La Liga title

It will not be the first time, and it will not be the last, that this clash of the Spanish titans could decide the destination of the Primera Liga crown. After both clubs secured their places in the last eight of the Champions League in very different styles, the focus is now back on the domestic campaign. With just one point separating the clubs, a win for either side could give them the vital edge in the title race as we approach the final run of games.

Barcelona will enter the game as favourites after Real Madrid only managed a single win during a four game spell in March but as Lionel Messi noted: “When Madrid are in this situation… they are most dangerous.”

Madrid’s only win in March came at home against relegation threatened Levante but despite their slump, they remain just one point behind their league-topping rivals. A win at the Camp Nou could really put their season back on track as they look to contest for a league and Champions League double.

Luis Enrique’s team are still in contention for three pieces of silverware, and the former club captain seems to have finally answered any early-season critics who may have doubted his credentials as leader of the Catalan giants. A dominant mid-week display against Manchester City could have been more comfortable if it had not been for some off-target finishing and an inspired performance by City keeper Joe Hart.

With 17 wins in 18 games, Barca will be hoping to move a step closer to regaining the league title in front of a full house on Sunday night.

Merseyside Derby – Everton v Liverpool Preview and Stats

Everton v Liverpool

Saturday February 7 2015, 5:30 PM

Goodison Park

All eyes will be on Merseyside for the late kick-off on Saturday as Everton and Liverpool go head to head in one of the Premier Leagues most fiercely contested derbies.

They say that form goes out the window in these games and Everton fans will be hoping that is true after woeful run of form that has produced just two wins in the last 11 league matches. Roberto Martinez’s men have won just one of their last five home games and sit in 12th place in the Premier League table on 26 points.

Meanwhile, their rivals from across Stanley Park have continued their recent revival. Seven wins in the last 11 league games with just a single defeat have pushed Brendan Rodger’s team back into contention for a top four finish. The Reds are 12 points clear of their neighbours and currently occupy seventh position; just four points shy of fourth-placed Southampton. At the same point last season, the clubs were separated by just a single point and one place in the table with the Anfield side sat in fourth place on 46 points ahead of the Blues.

The head to head form does not bode too well for the Toffees as they have only managed two league wins over Liverpool in the last 20 meetings although they have drawn four out of the last five. In fact, historical results suggest that this fixture has become tighter in recent years with more draws in the last five games than the previous 15 combined. Last year’s 4-0 home win by Liverpool broke a run of 3 consecutive draws which was resumed with a 1-1 draw at Anfield in September.
